Pure Talent

Bust out your calculator.
In Judea in the ancient world...
One talent weighed 75 United States pounds.
One shekel weighed 2/5 of an ounce (or 0.4 ounces in decimal form).
One shekel was a days wage for a semi skilled worker.
There are 40 shekels in one United States pound. (16/ 0.4=40)
Thus, there are 3000 shekels in one talent.
3000 shekels equals 3000 days of semi skilled payed labour.
3000 days divided by 365 days equals 8.21 years of labour
Thus there are 8.21 years of labour in one talent.
Now reread the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30

Our Father in heaven is most ancient and just. He expects us to use our talents to serve, glorify, and aggressively expand his Kingdom. Let us do so! Everyone of us has talent that the LORD God has blessed us with. Let us use it! Glory to God in the Highest!!!
