10 Times His Wages Were Changed and Yet He Still Comes Out Ahead!?!

Phase 1- Jacob flees to his Uncle Laban hundreds of miles 
away in Paddan Aram to escape the murderous grudge of his 
brother Esau. Jacob flees with no notable possessions.
Phase 2- Jacob agrees to work seven years for Laban's daughter
 Rachel. He's tricked after seven years and is given her sister
 Leah instead. 
Phase 3- Laban offers Rachel for seven more years of labour!!
Phase 4- Jacob marries Rachel as well.  Jacob tells Laban that for his wages he will merely take the speckled, spotted, and streaked lambs and goats from Laban's flocks as his wages. Laban immediately combs his entire herd and hides his speckled lambs and goats three days journey from Jacob. 
Phase 5- Jacob begins to initiate a breeding program in which speckled and spotted sheep are more likely to be born.

 (The LORD God actually pulls this off through favorable
 reproduction). During this time Laban repeatedly countermands his agreement with Jacob, wanting to keep the spotted sheep for himself!
Phase 6- The LORD sees how Laban as treated Jacob and does not forget him. 
Phase 7- The LORD orders Jacob to return to the land of Canaan where his father Isaac dwells and to the land God swore to his grandfather Abraham that he would give him. 
Phase 8- Jacob leaves Paddan Aram "exceedingly prosperous" as the Bible states it with menservants, maidservants, large flocks, donkeys, and camels. 
Phase 9- Laban confronts Jacob and is furious, though he does nothing because God told him to be careful not to say anything to Jacob whether good or bad. Jacob accuses Laban of changing his wages 10 times in 20 years of service! The two men swear an oath of peace and neutrality and Jacob continues to prosper because of the favor of the LORD God. 
These dramatic turn of events can be read in their entirety in Genesis 28-31. 

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

How wonderful is God's forgiveness! How great is the LORD's    
mercy! And how superlative is the Anointed One's promises!
 The kingdom of God is aggressively expanding to all who hear
 and obey Jesus' commands.  No matter how great one's sins are, 
as long as one repents and follows the path of Christ the Kingdom
 of heaven shall one day be their inheritance.  Thus, here is a real 
story of how the kingdom of God came to a sinner during Jesus'
 own lifetime. The story of Zacchaeus (taken from the NIV Bible)....
Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.  A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.  He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd.  So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”  So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a ‘sinner.’”
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

How Many Kings Did the Israelites Kill in Their Conquest of the Promised Land?

A very important question and the answer can be found in 
the book of Joshua.  First off, the Hebrews, being led by 
the LORD God with Joshua as their commander 
conquered seven peoples who were living in Canaan.  
These included the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites,
 Girgashites, Amorites, and the Jebusites (Joshua 3).  
Whats more, these races were some truly powerful peoples 
in the ancient world during this time (1400 BC) and had large prosperous cities.  
As for the total amount of kings slain during this blitzkrieg of an invasion, 31 total were killed (Joshua 12) during the Hebrew onslaught. A quite significant number. 

What is Faith?

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.  By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. 

I own Everything! It's Mine! (Or Not)

A bone chilling statement for somebody that has 
never thought about what is actually their own 
property.  What do you possess? Can you say-- that 
without any help from mother, father, friends, employee,
or employer, or GOD you would have anything that you 
lay claim to.  For friends the truth of the matter is that 
everything we own was given to us by the LORD God. 
And that we are merely stewards of God's creation while we are living on this earth.  For one day we will have to give an account of how we handled His possessions while they were under our care and supervision.  Keep that in your heart and mind friend. A Time for Everything

The above quote is taken from King Solomon of the Hebrews (Ecclesiastes 3). The Bible states that he was the wisest mortal man to have ever lived. His understanding led him to recognize the balance that we all need in our lives. Therefore, do not get overly stressed out when unexpected things come your way. These things must come.  Furthermore, do not become obsessed in things that are supposed to be out of your control (really everything isn't supposed to transpire at our convenience) and find how to make the most out of easy times and stressful times, profitable times as well as times of drought. Doing so is praiseworthy! GLORY TO THE LORD ON HIGH!

Question of the Day: What is the 'Fear of the LORD'?

An often misunderstood concept in the Bible.  For those that are new and have wondered whether this phrase means to shake in terror, cower in abject fear, and be in a constant state of throat swallowing dread, I have great news for you!  For those that follow Christ and obey his commands it simply means profound respect and reverence for the Word and teachings of God.  It means to treat what God has commanded us, and what his Son Jesus has visibly shown us as holy.  For in following the example that Jesus set, we fulfill all righteousness and faith, making both daily visible. Now thats a great feeling! 
Furthermore, those that follow Christ know that if they continuously and knowingly disobey God then what they have to look forward to is that dreadful and terrible expectation of punishment. But for those that seek God, believe God, and joyfully obey God such grey expectations shall be far from them! Have an excellent and admirable day friends!

Inflation Strikes Back: Peanut Butter Prices Rise 24-40% In Last 12 Months

This blog has railed against the theft that takes place through incipient inflation. And friends it is showing up more often at a grocery store near you. The humble jar of peanut butter is now going up across the board and across brands,(yes even the generic brands) and shall hit yours truly especially hard, as I have a soft spot for the nutty spread. Who doesn't ;)  Anyways, the question to be asked is.... Have my wages gone up 24-40% in twelve months?? Am I 24-40% richer than I was twelve months ago? If not friends then the higher prices of peanut butter, gasoline, bread, and DVD's will only continue to show itself most acutely in our life, and how far our daily wages will go. A Real Deal: A Birthright for Red Stew

What a deal! Talk about the trade of a lifetime! Only the savviest buyers would follow in the example of Esau. OR NOT.  The story of Esau and Jacob is a textbook, case closed example of how humans will choose to give up what is most beautifully precious for a short term benefit.  In the story below we find that Esau gives away his birthright as first born to his younger brother Jacob for some red stew(lentil stew and bread to be precise) so that he could slake his famished condition. Realizing that, as time went by, this meant he would be reduced to tears for his weak act of wretchedness. The Bible states that by Esau selling his birthright in such a way he ended up despising his God given birthright. 
Yet, Esau's story is a warning to us all. For we too are confronted with just such decisions where we can choose the easy choice now only to forgo the greatness that surpasses our grandest imaginations.  We should all take note of Esau's fault and persevere where he once failed!  May the LORD grant us strength!! 

The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quite man, staying among the tents. Isaac, who had a taste for game loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.  

Once when Jacon was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, "Quick let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" (That is also why he was called Edom)  Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright".  "Look, I am about to die", Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?" But Jacob said, "Swear to me first. " So he swore and oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. Esau bartering away his birthright. Esau was also called Edom because of his plentiful red hair. Edom means red in the ancient lexicon.

Possibly The Largest Vessel Ever Built Until Imperialism? A Monumental Case Study

The ark built by Noah and whose dimensions were laid out by the LORD God was massive! A bastion of safety during a worldwide flood that eradicated everything that had the breath of life in it. Literal 24-Hour Days of Creation

Phenomenal and Wonderful. 

Ever wonder how old the earth is? Ever wonder how the LORD God created everything and how long it took Him to create our earth and universe? Did it take billions of years as the white coated scientists say? Or did it take 6 literal 24-hour days with the LORD resting on the 7th? Did you know that some Christians would argue that creation took millions of years instead of what Genesis Chapter 1 plainly says? Well check and double check this friends....

Days defined as having an evening and a morning (Genesis1:5,8,13)

Hebrew word yom (day) used with numbers in non-prophetic language always indicates a 24-hour period (Genesis 1:5,8,13,19,23,31)

If days are viewed as long periods of time, what are the "months and years" discussed in Genesis 1:14?

Hebrew word yamin (days) appears over 700 times in the Old Testament, and always means 24-hour days in non-phrotic language (cf. Exodus 20:11;31:17)

The Hebrew language has other words that can be translated "day" (e.g. dor, olam) that would have conveyed long periods of time, but these were not used in Genesis 1. 

The days of Creation week are the same as the days enjoined on the Israelites at Sinai (Exodus 20:11). 

If the days were long periods of time, and if each day had a long "evening" of darkness, many plants that were created on day three could not have survived (Genesis 1:11-13).

Gold In Backwardation

Trust in the LORD

Friends, in all things, put your trust in the LORD. In blessings thank Him, in trials look to Him. He will be our Savior and our great Defender. 

It is with a feeling of sadness that I write this post. It is late and has been a long day but this must be said. The world that we live in is changing at a whirlwind pace and I fear that on a national level, as free citizens, it will be for the worse. Gold has broken out big time to the upside. This is indicative that the international banking shorts have now allowed asset prices to rise with market fury. The last two days of market action is what "true free markets" have long wanted to price in. It is likely the Ben Bernank will announce additional stimulus to shore up the stock markets that have fallen like meteors the last few days tomorrow. If he doesn't, o boy look out! If he does it will be the exact same as throwing gasoline on an inflationary fire. No more no less.  Protect yourselves, hard assets are still financial harbors in this maelstrom that we are now passing through. Always, through all of this, let us look to the LORD and never forget that despite all this, we are servants of His kingdom. Let us glorify and praise Him and tell others about the Good News of His Son!

Facts of Joshua

Some interesting facts from the book of Joshua 


1. The fall of Jericho, which was the first major city to fall in the Promised Land, sent waves of terror through the rest of the peoples living in Canaan. The city which was one of the largest and most prosperous, as it was located not far from the Jordan River took seven days to fall.  This is spectacular! and even more so in how its walls came crumbling down! The account can be found in Joshua 6.


2. The Cave at Makkedah- The place where five kings were handed over to the Israelites by the LORD. Whats more these five kings, which included the pagan Amorite king of Jerusalem, allied themselves together to crush the Israelites, but instead were annihilated almost to the man with the help of the LORD. Joshua in one and the same day had these 5 kings executed and hung till evening at this cave. The account can be found in Joshua 10. 


3. Caleb, who along with Joshua, was the only other Israelite to have lived in Egypt, wander through the desert for 40 years and still enter the Promised Land. Whats amazing! at 85 years old, he was still vigorous, still able to wage war, still had his faith in the LORD, and still led campaigns against the pagans. The LORD gave him Hebron as his family's inheritance. His account can be found in Joshua 14. 

Uncle Gorilla

Uncle Gorilla has met his match. His spend thrift ways have hit a monstrous wall and that wall is called Mr. Market. Check out this graph below friends. The 10 year Treasury Bond sets the price of money for the entire planet! and its about to sell off and interest rates are about to climb higher while Uncle Gorilla sinks deeper into oblivion. 
For the short term- Look for a possible rise in the 10 year to 126.00 on the chart below with the announcement of a debt ceiling "grand compromise"....blah blah so forth and so forth. Thats a BIG maybe. After that look for it to begin selling off to 118.00 and even lower as the months roll off the calendar. And please remember that these anticipations are not guaranteed as tomorrow is promised to no one. For if it is the LORD's will tomorrow's sun shall rise and commerce shall happen and life will continue. The British Are Coming!!! (Haha not really, but two Brits lend a word of warning)

Here is the illustrious Robin Griffiths, rumored banker to Her Majesty the Queen,  and the always sharp Ben Davies lending words of warning and caution has we head into the second half of 2011.  
And what do they have to say? In short Robin states,
1. American and European stock markets shall continue to decline in real terms. Making holders of stocks poorer, even though their quoted prices might go up.
2. Gold is in a multiyear secular UP trend that shows no symptoms of deceleration. 
3. All fiat currencies are going to be debased, no exceptions.

As for the super sharp Ben Davies, some real stunners...
1. The physical silver market is as tight as a drum.
2. Physical demand for gold and silver coming from Asia, particularly China, is relentless and growing. 
3. The Ben Bernank is lier, lier, pants on fire!
4. Gold will be at $2000.00 an ounce in 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Not a typo and Mr. Davies is no blind optimistic cheerleader of gold and silver. He called for silver to selloff 13-15 dollars in early May and that is just what it did.)

Deceit At Its Finest (A Must Read)

Three cheers to Dr. Ron Paul for posing this question to the Ben Bernank! He asked what everyone already knows by common sense.  Please watch this one minute video from today July 13, 2011 before you read my commentary below. 

What a disingenuous sophist Ben Bernanke is! He says that people, average citizens and large money men, hold gold because of "tail risk" and the fear of "really bad outcomes". ...Really Ya Theenk!? The really bad outcomes that the ben bernank is alluding to are of his own making! Try one quadrillion dollars of financial derivatives (no this is not a crazy exaggeration but is a very plausible estimate) that are nothing, nothing but paper mortgage backed securities, subprime toilet paper, Greek toilet paper, Italian toilet paper, chinese real estate toilet paper, American Treasury bond instruments,  etf "securities", high yield debt, currency swaps, credit default swaps, and yes I am not kidding United States dollar toilet paper. These are the "tail risk" bogey men that investors fear around the world.
2. Why don't banks hold diamonds, instead of gold? The Bernank replies......."tradition".............O yeaaaaaah, I remember now tradition....that old ancient tradition of all cultures and all peoples regarding gold as money, Solomon, Caesar, Alexander, King Henry, King Nebuchadnezzar, our Founding Fathers and the US Constitution.  Friends, OUR FATHER'S HOUSE IN HEAVEN IS PAVED WITH GOLD PATHWAYS!!! And here is the Bernank saying that it is not money, but merely an "asset" among many. Absolutely brazen!
3. Our central bank, headed by the ben bernank holds 8000 TONNES of gold. Do you think you might need to also??
4. Gold today hit new all time highs in US dollars, British pounds, and Euros. And is going higher still....
5. Dr. Paul's statement about the dollar falling by almost 50% in the last three years is very close to the truth. Don't know? Just look at flour and gasoline prices lately. 
6. Bernanke states in a rather whimsical way," yeah I pay attention to the price of gold"...  You bet he does! Gold is his biggest headache each and every day! Gold stands judgment on his "monetary policies".
